Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrier of Ethiopia. During the past sixty plus years, Ethiopian has become one of the continent’s leading carriers, unrivalled in Africa for efficiency and operational success, turning profits for almost all the years of its existence. Operating at the forefront of technology, it has also become one of Ethiopia’s major industries and a veritable institution in Africa. On September 29, 2010 Ethiopian has been officially invited to join STAR Alliance: the process of operational and administrative integration has immediately started and the airline is looking forward to accomplish full membership soon.
From Italy the airline operates daily flights to/from Addis Ababa with short connections to all destinations in the network. Ethiopian is one of the airlines, in the world, operating the newest and youngest fleets.
The renowned Ethiopian Aviation Academy in Addis Ababa has state-of-the-art facilities and has been for years selected as a school for pilots, technicians and cabin staff by many other airlines besides Ethiopian itself. Flight simulators for all Boeing fleet operated by the carrier work full time while maintenance is performed in the hangars with the support of full certification of Boeing for East Africa.
