Some extra information for departures from Italy:
- Ethiopia: passengers holding an Italian passport can obtain a tourist visa valid for one month upon arrival at Addis Ababa airport. The cost is $ 20.00 and two photos are needed. For more details or other information please contact the Ethiopian Embassy at 06 4416161.
- Other African countries: passengers holding an Italian passport can normally get a visa upon arrival in many countries at the conditions indicated by the relevant authorities. It is the passenger’s duty to obtain all the required information from the local authorities of their country of destination, and present themselves at the check-in counters in possession of all the required travel documents.
- Concerning foreign passengers residing in Italy, they are allowed to return to their originating country not only if they are holding a currently valid resident permit, but also if they have the Poste Italiane or Questura receipt certifying their renewal is under process. However, Ethiopian Airlines does not guarantee that passengers who need to return to Italy will be admitted by this renewal receipt. Therefore, they should contact our worldwide offices well before departure in order to secure that they will be admitted on board. Also, this receipt is not considered valid to travel within Schengen area without limitations, as per Circular N. 400/a/2009/14.201.
- Traveling from Rome to Stockholm: passengers that need a visa to enter Sweden will need a multiple Schengen visa to travel with Ethiopian Airlines. In fact, since our flight to Stockholm originates from an international city (Addis Ababa), a passport check must take place already once before departure, so another visa validation is necessary to enter Sweden.

Vaccinations
No vaccinations are required to travel to Ethiopia for passengers originating from Italy. For what concerns yellow fever, passengers that have traveled to countries classified as risky for this disease six days (or later) before their entry into Ethiopia are required to produce a vaccination certificate.
It is sometimes required that passengers even if just transiting through Ethiopia possess a vaccination certificate to be admitted into other countries (e.g. South Africa). Please ask for information.
